OnlyFans Payouts Explained: Fees, Timing, and How to Get Paid Faster

Everything you need to know about OnlyFans payouts, including fees, processing times, payout methods, and tips for managing your cash flow.

Understanding how and when you get paid on OnlyFans is one of the first things every new creator should sort out. The platform does not pay you instantly when a fan subscribes or sends a tip. There are holds, fees, minimum thresholds, and processing times that all affect when money actually lands in your account.

None of it is especially complicated, but not understanding it leads to cash flow surprises, missed withdrawal windows, and unnecessary stress. This guide covers the entire payout process so you know exactly what to expect.

How OnlyFans payments work

When a fan pays you, whether through a subscription, tip, pay-per-view message, or any other transaction, the money does not go directly to your bank account. It goes into your OnlyFans pending balance first.

The flow looks like this:

  1. A fan makes a payment.
  2. OnlyFans takes its platform fee (20% of the transaction).
  3. The remaining 80% enters your pending balance.
  4. After the hold period, the funds move to your available balance.
  5. You request a withdrawal (or it happens automatically, depending on your settings).
  6. The withdrawal is processed and sent to your chosen payout method.

Each step has its own timing, which is why there is always a gap between earning and receiving.

The 20% platform fee

OnlyFans takes 20% of every transaction on the platform. This is not negotiable and applies to all revenue types: subscriptions, tips, PPV messages, and custom content sales.

So if a fan pays a £10 subscription, OnlyFans keeps £2 and credits £8 to your pending balance. If someone sends a £50 tip, £10 goes to OnlyFans and £40 goes to you.

This covers payment processing, hosting, and content delivery. It is one of the higher platform fees in the creator economy, but OnlyFans does not charge additional payment processing fees on top.

When planning your pricing, account for this 20% from the start. Our pricing calculator factors in the platform cut so you can see your actual take-home at different price points.

The pending balance and 7-day hold

This is the part that catches most new creators off guard.

When you earn money on OnlyFans, it does not become available for withdrawal immediately. Instead, it sits in a pending balance for a minimum of 7 days. This hold period starts from the date of each individual transaction, not from a single weekly cutoff.

So if a fan subscribes on Monday, that payment will not be available to withdraw until the following Monday at the earliest. A tip received on Wednesday will clear the following Wednesday.

Why does the hold exist?

The hold exists for chargeback protection (giving time to process fan disputes before releasing funds), fraud prevention, and to allow payment methods that take several days to fully clear. The hold is fixed at 7 days. You cannot shorten it, regardless of how long you have been on the platform or how much you earn.

Minimum payout threshold

OnlyFans has a minimum payout threshold of $20 (or the equivalent in your local currency). If your available balance is below this, you will need to wait until you have earned enough to meet it. For new creators still building their audience, this means the first payout might take a little longer than expected.

Payout methods

OnlyFans offers several ways to receive your money. The options available to you may vary depending on your country.

Bank transfer (direct deposit)

This is the most common option and the one most creators use. You link your bank account details, and OnlyFans sends your withdrawal directly. Processing typically takes 3 to 5 business days after you request the withdrawal.

For UK creators, this means a transfer to your UK bank account in GBP. For US creators, it goes to your US bank account in USD.

E-wallets

OnlyFans supports certain e-wallet services depending on your region. Availability changes from time to time, so check your payout settings for current options. E-wallets sometimes process faster than traditional bank transfers.

International wire transfer

For creators outside the main supported countries, international wire transfers may be available. These typically take longer (5 to 10 business days) and may involve additional fees from your receiving bank.

Manual vs automatic withdrawals

OnlyFans gives you two options for withdrawing your available balance.

Manual withdrawals. You log in, check your available balance, and request a withdrawal when you want one.

Automatic withdrawals. Your available balance is sent to you on a regular schedule without you needing to request it.

Most established creators use automatic withdrawals because it simplifies cash flow. If you are just starting out, manual withdrawals let you keep a closer eye on what is moving and when.

International payment considerations

If you are based outside the United States, there are a few extra things to be aware of.

Currency conversion. OnlyFans processes most transactions in USD. If your bank account is in a different currency (GBP, EUR, AUD, etc.), your bank will convert the payment at their own exchange rate, which usually includes a small margin.

Receiving bank fees. Some banks charge for receiving international transfers. Check with your bank to understand if any incoming transfer fees apply.

Tax withholding. If you have not submitted a W-8BEN form through OnlyFans, the platform may withhold a percentage of your earnings for US tax purposes. Completing the W-8BEN certifies your foreign status and can reduce or eliminate this withholding. Our tax tools can help you understand your obligations.

Payment delays. International transfers take longer than domestic ones. Factor in 5 to 10 business days rather than the usual 3 to 5.

Understanding your earnings statements

OnlyFans provides earnings statements in your account dashboard, broken down by source: subscriptions, tips, messages, and other revenue. Download these regularly. You will need them for your tax return, and they are essential for understanding where your income is actually coming from. Our earnings calculator can help you project revenue based on your subscriber count and pricing.

Tips for managing your cash flow

Factor in the 7-day delay from day one. Do not treat your pending balance as money you can access now. Plan your spending around withdrawal dates, not earning dates.

Set aside money for tax. In the UK, you are responsible for paying your own Income Tax and National Insurance. A common approach is to set aside 25 to 30% of your net earnings into a separate account for tax. Our tax calculator can help you estimate a more precise figure.

Track your income weekly, not monthly. OnlyFans payments roll in continuously rather than arriving in a single monthly pay cheque. A few minutes each week reviewing your dashboard helps you spot trends and avoid surprises at tax time.

Use a separate bank account for your creator income. Mixing personal and business income makes bookkeeping harder and tax filing messier. Even a simple second current account keeps things clean.

Build a buffer. There will always be a delay between earning and receiving. A small financial buffer means you are never caught short.

Understand your revenue mix. Subscriptions provide predictable recurring income. Tips and PPV sales are less predictable but can be significant. If most of your income is from one-off tips, your cash flow will be more variable than if it is subscription-heavy. Our tip menu guide covers how to structure tips for consistent revenue.

Common payout questions

Can I get paid daily? You can request a withdrawal every day if your available balance meets the minimum threshold, but each withdrawal still takes 3 to 5 business days to process.

What happens if a fan charges back? OnlyFans will deduct the amount from your balance. Chargebacks are uncommon, but they do happen, which is one reason the 7-day hold exists.

Do I pay fees on withdrawals? OnlyFans does not charge a separate withdrawal fee. The 20% platform fee is the only deduction on their end. Your bank may charge its own fees for receiving transfers.

Can I change my payout method? Yes. Update your payout details in your account settings at any time. There may be a short verification period when you add a new bank account.

Putting it all together

The OnlyFans payout system is straightforward once you understand the moving parts. The 20% fee, the 7-day hold, the minimum threshold, and the processing time together mean you should expect a gap of roughly 10 to 14 days between earning money and having it in your bank account.

Plan for that gap, track your earnings consistently, and set aside money for tax from the start. Our earnings calculator and pricing calculator can help you project and plan.
